First solo trip to Japan! Is my itinerary too packed?
Hi guys! I've been a lurker on this sub for a while, but I'm happy to say I'll be having my first real solo-trip this month for 8 days from Jan 9-16 :D I've already been to Japan before, but with my parents just last Spring. I'm a 19F btw.
I've tried to fit in as much as I can with reasonable break times in between for my week there, and I'd just like some tips/criticism/insight on my upcoming plans, as well as maybe some recommendations on places I should visit and the amount of money I should bring?
9 - Arrive 4pm, Otome road at Ikebukuro (Check in: Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro)
10 - Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku Day
11 - Check out, train to Osaka, Osaka nightlife (Check in: Hotel Sunplaza 2 Annex)
12 - Day trip to Hiroshima
13 - Check out, train to Tokyo, rest day? (Check in: Juyoh Hotel)
14 - Akihabara day
15 - Check out, leave luggage at hotel, explore town, buy souvenirs (Check in: Richmond Narita)
16 - Check out, Hotel Shuttle to Narita, Flight 9am
Budget:
I've already bought a 7-day JR pass and paid for accommodations. Big purchases I'll make with card. I plan on spending maybe $60 I think for the pocket-wifi from the airport for 8 days. How much USD should I convert? I'm not a huge spender, mostly plan on getting my food from convenience stores and cheap restaurants. Is $500USD enough? I also plan on going to a few concerts/shows as well though, and the ones I've seen are around $25USD or so.
I'm just so excited! I remember when I went to Japan I fell in love with their culture, since I'm pretty introverted and keep to myself often, and I loved how Japan kinda catered to those kinda people? It's one of the few places I don't feel outta place going to restaurants/events alone :) so I feel it's a great place for solo-travel.
Also, I'm currently living in California and our winters are a lot of people's summers LOL
I know it's currently winter in Japan right now, but how warmly should I bundle up? And is there any fun celebrations during this time I should check out? (in Tokyo/Osaka/Hiroshima) :)
