First solo trip to Central Europe
I’m planning my first solo trip and I want to get the basics figured out ASAP so I can book. Was originally aiming for Feb, but now I’m thinking mid-late March in hopes of somewhat better weather. I’m researching like crazy but would love any and all advice you have.
I was originally thinking of doing Berlin > Prague > Vienna > Budapest, but after some research I’m now thinking Prague > Vienna > Bratislava > Budapest > Zagreb > Ljubljana
I was thinking ~3 weeks and I realize this doesn't add up, so I'd love some input on where to spend more time! Here's what I have:
Prague - 3 nights
Vienna - 3 nights
Bratislava - 1 night
Budapest - 4 nights
Zagreb - 2 nights
Ljubljana (and Bled?) - 3 nights
I haven’t been to any of these countries before, so I’m not worried about running out of things to do. I’m very into museums/history/nature. Also if anyone has any recommendations for theaters or music venues to look into that would be great!
Also if there are any other cities I should be checking out nearby, I'm open to day trips and such!
Other things on my mind:
- Train vs bus between cities. Honestly I didn't think about buses until I saw them mentioned in other posts here when I started planning, so I'm wondering which legs are more practical/necessary to go by bus. And for either, is there any benefit to booking ahead of time or can I easily do it all day of?
- I’m planning on Airbnbs. Advice on areas I should want to be near or avoid?
Thanks!
