First Solo Trip: New Zealand
Hello, I'm planning my first solo trip to New Zealand, and would like some feedback on my itinerary, and to have some questions answered if possible.
A little about me
I'm 22, and visiting NZ as a graduation present. The flight and hostels will be paid for, and all activities/transport are coming out of my pocket. There isn't an exact limit on what I'm willing to spend, but I'd still like to be somewhat frugal. Since I'm visiting NZ between graduation and work, the dates listed are the only time I can go. I'm not planning on doing any winter activities (skiing, snowboarding, etc). Also I've read that Auckland is overrated, but I still want to see it.

Questions
-I'm not planning on renting a car, so my transportation options are limited to buses. How common is Uber/Lyft/etc? Can I get one in each city I have planned?
-Nothing is booked yet, so I'm flexible to changing anything on the itinerary. The trip isn't fully planned in regards to activities. Any suggestions for my "Arrive/Explore" and "??" days?
-I'm not 100% sold on staying in Hamilton, so I'm open to staying in another city from May 30th-31st.
-Any specific hostel recommendations?
-Anything else I should be aware of as a solo traveler in NZ? Overlooked things to pack?
Thanks!
