First solo trip chronicle

Did my first solo exploration trip for the first time. I was apprehensive and needed to go easy on myself so I did NYC for 1.5 days. I know, short, but couldn't take days off work.

I got pretty nervous during the flight. WTH am I doing halfway across the country? What if I get kidnapped? Lol. Anyway. Got into the city close to midnight. Checked in the hotel and forced myself to get out and grab food since I'm supposedly in a safe part of the city and I gotta seize all the time I can get here. Kept my eyes peeled for those pizza rats I keep hearing about but didn't see any, thank goodness. I'm a sweets person so headed to a bakery open late and bought way too many desserts for one person. It was alright. Heard a lot about halal food carts so spotted one by the hotel and it was AMAZING. Devoured my chicken and rice with tons of white sauce in the tiniest hotel room I've ever been in and fell asleep soon after.

Woke up in 7 hrs to get on one of those hop on, hop off busses that has a live tour guide so I can explore all parts of the city and use it as transportation to all the food places I want to try. Tried out all the bakeries I've only heard about. Levain's chocolate chip walnut cookies sent me to heaven and back. Tried out the pizza. I thought I didn't like thin crust until I had REAL NY style thin crust. How do you get soft, chewy and crispy sensations on such a thin crust?? Now I get what all the hype is about. One con I kept running into as a solo traveler is I can't order a lot of food to try cause I just end up throwing my leftovers away. I was tempted to give them to people sitting by me so they don't go to waste, but of course no one's gonna eat those.

Getting tired of writing about the rest but point is I ended up forgetting about being scared and being somewhere completely new by myself. I enjoyed spending time alone and it's so refreshing being able to do what you want to do without having to take others' wishes into consideration. I did get a little nervous when I had to walk on an empty street at night but I tried to stay where a lot of people are. Looking forward to the next one!
