Family of 5, kids are 8, 5, and 2. We take a summer vacation abroad every year and thought maybe a road trip would be good this Spring Break (March).

We live in Oklahoma and would like to travel third week of March from Tuesday to Saturday.

Any suggestions on kid friendly places to visit? We are considering the Grand Canyon, but looking for other suggestions. Since we want to leave on Tuesday and be back on Saturday we want to stay within around 1,500 (or so) miles from home.

Would love to hear any feedback or suggestions. We travel every year with our kids but always on a plane, this will be our first family road trip. Cost is not a concern, we just want to have fun and want the kids to have fun.

Edit: I like historical places or unique places to experience scenery. I went to Carlsbad Caverns when I was a kid and really enjoyed it. But I also want something the young kids can enjoy. I was also considering Dodge City, KS (which I know nothing about) or maybe Carlsbad Caverns again to show my kids. But open to anything else you might suggest.
