Critique My 70 Day SE Asia Itinerary
Context: In total, I am looking to make this journey about 70 days long. It will begin late April and end late June/early July. I am a 23 year old male who is flying in from Germany and whose final destination will be the US. I'm not really that concerned with budget as I'm in a good financial position but if there are any pointers that some of you could lend, please feel free. I hate wasting money. I'm more interested in seeing beautiful wildlife/nature areas and meeting awesome people rather than experiencing the nightlife in big cities, although I do appreciate an area where I could have both. Please know that this is a bit of a "rough draft" plan and I'm open to any changes, which is why the itinerary isn't incredibly detailed. I haven't bought any tickets or made any bookings yet. Everything you see listed from top to bottom is what I have planned to do in chronological order.
Fly from Germany -->
Thailand
-Bangkok (4 days)
-Chang Mai (with day trip to Chang Rai) (4 days)
-Phuket (Interested in Khao Sok & Phi Phi Islands) (15 days)
Cambodia
Siem Reap (3 days) Note: Is it really worth flying to see or should I just skip it?
Vietnam
Hanoi Bay (8 days) Note: I want to spend most of these days in Ninh Binh
Dong Hoi (8 days) Note: I want to spend most of these days in Phong Nha National Park
Hue (4 days)
Ho Chi Minh City (4 days)
Australia (Yeah, I know it's a separate continent and not SEA)
Sydney (7 days)
Fly from Sydney to the US -->
So you're probably thinking that this doesn't really add up to 70 days. That's true. High five to you for good math skills! Here is where I'm stumped.
- I don't know what other places I should go to in order to take advantage of the time I have in this part of the world. If there are other places I should see, let me know. Bali, maybe? Another place in Australia, perhaps?
- For each place you see listed in regular text, I had planned on mostly flying from place to place. I am tracking that there are trains as well, but I can't find too much reliable information on what is the most way to get from A to B in some cases. What are your experiences with flights and trains in Vietnam? renting a motorcycle is out of the question for me since I don't have much experience with them.
- Any other general advice is appreciated. I have solo traveled many times but only around Europe and never for this long before. I've never been to SEA.
