Business trip to Munich & Hong Kong (January 19)
I have an upcoming business trip which will take me back through Munich and Hong Kong. I did this same trip last month and since then I discovered this sub. Now that I'm headed back I am hoping for some advice to help me make the most of my limited free time in each location. First up, my upcoming trip timeline followed by my December trip and the activities I did then:
Munich: Staying at the Sheraton Westpark; will have a rental car
- 9JAN: arrive midday, free day
- 10JAN: work until 6pm, free night
- 11JAN: work & flight to Hong Kong
Hong Kong: Staying at the Courtyard on Hong Kong Island, no rental car (prefer taxi to public transport)
- 12JAN: arrive afternoon, free night
- 13JAN: free day
- 14JAN: work until 6pm, free night
- 15JAN: work & flight out of Hong Kong
It's a fast and furious trip, but I tried to make the most of it last month - this time around I don't have anything on the agenda for Munich but have been looking at Victoria Peak, Dragon's Back, and the Lantau Island Budda as potential activities for my 13JAN free day in Hong Kong. I should also note that as part of the business trip, lunch is included on the work days and breakfast is at the hotel so dinner is generally the only meal I'm searching for. I do not speak German nor Chinese and am generally okay with adventuring out/ trying new things, however, I hate inconveniencing the locals which usually makes me steer clear of non-tourist friendly areas.
I'd really appreciate suggestions for places to eat in/ around Munich 9/10 JAN evenings which are solo traveler friendly and have English menus/ okay with tourists...if possible I'd prefer Bavarian dishes.
For Hong Kong I'd appreciate some suggestions for activities on my free day as well as places to eat - in December I found that I love the BBQ pork buns.
Now for the December trip activities:
In December I had the same trip but with the extra day in Munich as opposed to Hong Kong - while in Munich I walked to the Tollwood winter festival, went to the Marienplatz Christmas Market, and drove/ spent the day in Burghausen at the castle there. While in Hong Kong I stayed at the Mira hotel on Nathan Road & walked around the adjoining mall and....jet lag caught up with on the second night and I slept the evening away.
For some more context, I'm a late 20s Male and have also visited Nuremburg & Auschwitz while in Germany/ Poland on a previous trip so I'm not sure if I'd be up for Dachau on this trip.
Thanks!
