Road trip from Canada to southern California and not sure where to go from there.

Hi,

me and my friend are doing a 2-week road trip from Canada to southern California over the Christmas break. Most of the trip is planned other than 4 days around new years eve (we will be in LA at this time). The three options we can think of are:

- Visit San Diego and celebrate NYE there.

- Drive to Las Vegas (never been there) to visit and celebrate NYE. This would require us to sleep in my car the night of NYE since budget/hotel cost (but hotel rest of the nights).

- Drive into Baja Mexico and visit Rosarito or Ensenada and celebrate NYE. I would LOVE to visit Mexico but am worried about safety issues/extra logistics.

Any input is much appreciated! I know there are already lots of threads on things to do in each city, I would just like help and choosing between the 3 options. Also, input on the safety of visiting Baja Mexico would be great!
