Frugal Western Road Trip Advice
I'm starting to plan a road trip for this coming spring/early summer. I am starting medical school next fall, and despite not having a ton of money, I want to enjoy some of my last moments of freedom by seeing parts of the country I never have before. The general route I would like to take is something like LA -> San Fransisco -> Seattle -> Glacier -> Yellowstone/Teton -> SLC -> Vegas -> back to LA. I'd like to spend a lot of time outdoors on when I'm in between the major cities and plan on taking time to stop at National and State Parks. I would mostly like any advice you can offer to save money (cheap car rental options, cheap hotels, crashing in the rental car, cheap meals on the road, etc). I am currently located on the east coast so I am also wondering what my best options are for rental. Should I fly to LA and pick up a car there or just rip it across the country? It seems cheaper to fly and then rent out there. If you have tips on cool places off the beaten path or anything like that, it would be appreciated as well.
