For those of you who may have done long term road trips, what were some issues you encountered?
I'm thinking of doing a long road trip in a summer or two and I've just began planning out a route from eastern Canada to the west and I'll probably plan a return route through the US. All in all I assume this lengthy road trip could take upwards of 4 to 5 months. Yes a long time I know. Though I assume only a fraction of the people here have done a road trip that long I'm curious to here from them what issues they encountered related to their vehicle specifically, but any other issues I'm happy to hear about so I can better plan for myself.
The first leg of the trip alone would be 9k km (5.6k miles) and that's just if I was to drive straight there without accounting for any detours of any sort, which obviously there will be plenty. So I would better estimate the first leg of the trip to be 10k-11k km (6k-7k miles) of course the second leg of the trip would be roughly the same making the entire road trip possibly as long as 20k km (14k miles). Now that's a long road trip!
So what are some issues you've encountered during your road trips that I could learn from to better prepare myself? Obviously a flat tire and fluids would be the most likely, but aside from those two things.
