Driving from Mammoth Lakes to Yosemite Valley in April?
Hi guys. My coming wife and I are planning an RV roadtrip in California in April next year, as our honeymoon. We will be travelling with our son, that will be 10 months at that time. We're from Denmark so it is really a once in a life-time experience for us, so we want to make sure that we get everything absolutely right.
One of our biggest dreams is to explore the area around Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite Valley. But I read that the Tioga Rd. is typically closed until May/June. Is there any other way to drive through Yosemite from the easter side to Yosemite Valley, like small roads and such, that is open at that time of year? Or is it only possible to go around it (eg. to South Lake Tahoe and through Eldorade National Forest)?.
We will be coming from Las Vegas, so it would be perfect if we could go from LV through Death Valley to Mammoth Lakes and then drive west to Yosemite Valley. We also discussed the option of driving noth from that whole area through Bakersfield and Fresno, but then we will be missing out of Mammoth Lakes, and the drive will be a bit longer.
We will also be exploring LA, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Havasu, Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Las Vegas, San Fransicso and Highway one. Any advices you guys could have for us will be greatly appreciated
Thank you guys, hope you can help :)
