Road Trip Advice
For some context: myself and 3 buddies are 7 months out from a date we picked for a cross country road trip. Starting in Virginia, heading to Seattle, then back to Virginia. We are planning to stop at a few cities but hit as many national parks as possible.
We are currently trying to figure out what is the best method to travel. We have narrowed it down to 2 option.

Loading up a car and making the drive. Camping when we are at parks and hotels/Airbnb’s when we are in cities. We know this will be the most budget friendly but feel we won’t have the necessary room, also worried about showers.

Renting an RV is our second option. We are currently looking at this but having trouble finding one that isn’t too crazy with cost. Going over our allotted miles per day. Emptying waste tank, worse mpg, etc. The main upside is we always have a place to stay and a bathroom.
We would love to hear some advice, tips, and things we are overlooking. Any advice on renting an RV or just sucking it up, driving and having stops planned out would be appreciated. We are early in the planning stage and still have time to adjust plans.
