Planning epic road trip across USA in 2019
I'm in the very very early stages of planning right now, but here's a general idea of what I'm planning to do for anyone who would like to join me:
Full disclosure this is a trip I'm taking while working full time on the road. I work on average 40-50 hours a week so the majority of fun/adventure/driving times will be on weekends, maybe with short hops through mundane areas weekday evenings after work.
I just put in an custom order for a brand new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (4 door) and my plans are to take it through all 48 states in continental US, stopping by as many off road trails, parks and 'points of interests' as possible. I do scuba diving so want to stop by any bodies of water worthy of diving at along the way. I also plan on timing some places with concerts and various festivals that I'd be interested in attending.
I'm staying mostly at Airbnbs when available and longer stops in larger cities to take a break from the road and experience some city life around the country - my purpose here is also to get a feel of a potential city to settle down in when the time comes. Camping in certain areas is a certainty as well, it just depends on the temperature and where I'll be.
This will be a fairly long trip. I'm not in any particular rush to get through it as my focus is just enjoying the journey and the adventures and anyone I meet along the way. There's no 'end date' set - it will end when it ends.
I'm starting out on the west coast, probably sometime in the mid January time frame. I haven't decided the route yet, though probably toward south first since it'll be a little warmer :P
This is about as far as I have planned, so I'm throwing it out there early because if anyone wants to be a part of it and has input, I will build it into my/our schedule. If you're in a certain area and just want to tag along for a leg of the trip, that's great too! I'll be updating this thread as more details come to fruition so check back here for those :)
