Favorite State Parks and other non-NPS scenery?
I like to plan my road trips around interesting geologic formations (aka fancy rocks), fossils, and other cool nature sights. I feel like there's a good number of state parks and other areas that fly under the radar because they don't have the National Park designation. Some super cool places that come to mind are Dinosaur State Park in Connecticut (fossils under a dome!), Hot Springs State Park in Wyoming (free-ish hot springs), Palo Duro Canyon State Park (second-largest canyon in USA), and Natural Bridge State Park in Virginia (mega rock bridge).
