Planning a road trip from Montreal to the east coast
I'm looking to rent a car in Montreal and drive it to the east coast of Canada. I'm thinking of going for about a week.
I found at trip itinerary here (https://www.trippy.com/distance/Montreal-to-St.-John's-Canada): -Drive for about 2.5 hours, then stop in Quebec City and stay for about 1.5 hours. Next, drive for another 2 hours then stop in Riviere Du Loup. Stay overnight. (I've already been to Quebec so probably would go straight to Riviere Du Loup.) -The next day, drive for about 6 hours, then stop in Moncton and stay overnight. -The next day, drive for about 4.5 hours, then stop at Cape Breton and stay for about 1 hour. Next, drive for another 4 hours then stop in Stephenville (Canada). Stay overnight. -The next day, drive for about 5 hours, then stop in Gander and stay for about 1 hour. -Finally, drive for about 2.5 hours and arrive in St. John's (Newfoundland).
I'd ideally be doing this quite soon so haven't got any accommodation booked. Am I likely to find affordable accommodation quite readily in these areas of Canada (hostels/motels where I don't need to reserve)? Does anyone have any tips for other spots I should hit up while I'm there?
I live in Montreal but I've only been in Canada for 2 months so I am a bit ignorant of what there is to see east of here!
