TN to Bay Area, 4 days, August, looking for advice
I'm planning a solo roadtrip from TN to Bay Area as I am moving for work at the end of the month. My planned route:
Day 1: West TN - Kansas City, MO Day 2: Kansas City, MO - Denver, CO Day 3: Denver, CO - Salt Lake City, UT Day 4: SLC - Bay Area
I am not interested in driving the more direct southern route because I have done that drive twice and I want to see some new stuff
Since I'm solo driving I thought it would be safer to add a day and stop in major cities. I guess that might needlessly extend the time, but it seems safer to me.
I'm not really planning on having time to do lots of sight seeing outside of my car, but the first three days of the trip seem to have a few hours per day for some exploration. Day 4 looks like a solid push to the finish line.
I have done this drive twice (southern route and with another driver so we went fast) and plenty of other shorter trips over the years but this would be my first solo.
Looking for advice on the route; it doesn't look like there are a lot of options and I would prefer not to drive through Vegas. I can't really afford to add more days to the trip, but if anything here looks like a glaring red flag I'll adjust.
I'm particularly interested in passing through CO and Utah.
