Roadtrip through the Alps
Hey r/Roadtrip!
I was planning a bit of a road trip through the alps, and wanted to share my itinerary with you all to get some input!
Day 0: Fly into Paris.
Day 1: Paris - collect rental car, eat good food etc
Day 2: Geneva - drive to Geneva, enjoy the lake for the day among some other attractions
Day 3: Chamonix - hike around for the day, stay somewhere close or just in Geneva whatever works
Day 4: Mont Blanc - hike around the area for the day, stay somewhere close
Day 5: Mont Blanc - hike around the area for the day, stay somewhere close
Day 6: Zermatt - drive over to Zermatt, sunset + sunrise @ matterhorn
Day 7: Milan - drive to Milan, spend the day there, eat good food etc
Day 8: Cortina d'Ampezzo - drive to the dolomites, hike around
Day 9: Cortina d'Ampezzo - hike around, visit Tre Cime di Lavaredo for sunset
Day 10: Cortina d'Ampezzo - hike around
Day 11: Innsbruck + Neuschwanstein - Drive to innsbruck, find a small hike or something, then drive to Neuschwanstein for sunset and stay somewhere close
Day 12: Offenburg or Champagne area - just driving half the distance back to Paris to break it up... nothing really planned
Day 13: Paris - drive back to Paris
Day 14: Fly home
So I hope I did a good job of breaking up the driving with decent places to stop, enjoying the mountains, getting some photography in, seeing a few cities while I'm at it.
How do tolls work while driving around Europe? on google maps it keeps saying these are toll routes? Will I need to be prepared with cash while driving for this?
Also, do I need to know anything about crossing borders with a rental and things like that?
Any other tips?
