How to start planning a year long road trip? (with a dog and a flexible budget)
For the past 2 years I've been traveling the world. In 2019, I'm thinking of considering taking the time to travel throughout where I'm from originally — the US!
I don't have a car or a dog, but would prefer getting both for this trip. The car would be to have control of where I go. The dog because having a good listener while driving is nice.
For the car, I was thinking a Tesla. For the dog, I'm not sure. I realize not all dogs are best for traveling. Suggestions are welcome.
I'd like to mix the trip up by spending time at hotels, Airbnbs, and campsites. In both cities and rural areas.
Before I hit the road, I'm wondering what types of things I should consider. Best states to travel to based on time of year? Events to not miss? Must-see destinations?
On one hand, I don't like rules. A part of me wants to just go and figure things out on the road. That's what I usually do. But on the other hand, I'm open to finding out things in advance that'd help make me trip better.
Anyone have any input? How would you go about a trip like this? Thanks in advance!
