Any recommendations and tips of what to see, visit or do on a road trip in the South Western US?(California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah)
So this would be our (going as a family of 4) first road trip of a large scale, we live in the UK meaning there isn't much space to drive around for such a long time so we are quite inexperienced with this.
Info and questions:
- We are going in April.
- We are flying into either Los Angeles (slightly cheaper) or San Francisco (a bit costlier) Which should we do?
- Going for 2-3 weeks. Is this enough for what we want to visit?
- Would like to visit LA, SF, Las Vegas as major cities then probably some smaller ones out of which to visit national parks like Page or St George , National parks (Joshua tree, Yosemite, sequoia park, death valley, Monument valley(or is it too far?) grand canyon, Bryce canyon, Zion..)
- The route I thought up is: LA(2 or 3 nights) -> Las Vegas(2 or 3 nights) -> Page and/or St George(4 or 5 nights)-> then comes a problem, we want to get to SF, but there lies 8 hours of Nevada desert with no cities, Im not sure if we can handle 8 or 10 hours of driving to get to say Reno to stop there. What are some places we could stop at in the middle of that desert? After hopefully getting to SF we would stay there for several days then drive back to LA to go home.
Is this a good plan? , feedback very appreciated!
