~2 Weeks, LA to Seattle with National Parks, Oregon Coast. Suggestions?
Hi everybody!
In August, I'm going on a road trip with my girlfriend for 13 days. We kind of have it planned out for the most part, but was wondering if there was anything particularly awesome that we are missing.
I mainly need a suggestion on where we should camp along the Oregon coast, because we didn't pull the trigger in time and missed out on a site at Cape Lookout :(
So, here is our very rough itinerary:
Day 1: Sequoia NP
Day 2: King's Canyon
Day 3-4: Yosemite (hopefully getting a first-come site!)
Day 5-6: Tahoe (1 day in Desolation Wilderness, 1 camping near the lake)
Day 7-8: Lassen Volcanic NP
Day 9: Jedediah Smith Redwoods
Day 10: Oregon Coast ?
Day 11 probably hang out in Portland
Day 12: Not sure as yet, possibly an extra day in Portland or go to Seattle early.
Day 13: Seattle
So we have the first ~2/3 of it planned out pretty well in terms of where we're gonna be, but the last bit is more of a question mark.
What are some of the best places to stay along the Oregon coast? Ideally, somewhere that we can get a campsite! Is there anywhere between Portland and Seattle that's a must-see? Even just a particular drive with a few stops or something.
Also, any recommendations of must-see things throughout the trip would be greatly appreciated. I know about a lot of the bigger attractions through most of the California stuff, but I'm open to any and all suggestions!
