Hiking to Machu Picchu: difference between Salkantay and Lares treks?
I'm going to Peru for two and a half weeks next month, but my itinerary is still not completely planned out. I know I'll be going to Cusco and Machu Picchu for sure, I know I'd like to do a trek, and I know that the Inca Trail is sold out.
Has anyone done both the Salkantay and the Lares treks? If so, how would you compare the two? I know the Lares trek is shorter than the Salkantay, and since I'm only in Peru for less than 3 weeks, time might be an issue. Also, I'm not in the greatest shape so I might want to consider the easier of the two (ok, fine, I'm a pussy).
