Gonna have 24 days to travel America after summer camp, what should my budget look like?
Hi guys! Gonna be solo travelling America this summer after I finish up working at a Summer Camp. I'm going on a J1 visa, so as you might get, I'm not the richest guy in the world. I phoned the agency I'm going through and the women advised that she brought $500 and got paid $2000 from camp and that comfortably helped her. Although I would like to get the opinions of some people on here who have perhaps done it at some point.
What I would have liked to do is bring $2000 and get paid $2000 giving me 4k. But money is tighter than I thought this week so I'm having to basically cripple myself the next two paychecks to achieve this.
What do you guys think a reasonable amount for a student who wants to travel America could do is? I plan on staying in hostels, couchsurfing and stuff like that (Honestly enjoy it way more anyway). And I'd like to visit Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and I fly out of New York (Also maybe one/two other places). Would $4k hold me over for 24 days? Any advice is seriously appreciated!
