Do you have a place or places you have dreamed of visiting for a long time, just you without any travel companions? What made you want to go there? Have you been able to make it there yet?

I have several, but the one I probably wanted to visit for the longest is the Galapagos Islands, because of a travelogue I read when I was a kid. The writer visited the islands at a time when there were no restrictions on travel there and went where he wanted to, which I know I will not be able to do, but I still want to go. I haven‘t made it there yet, but I‘m sure I will, some day. The same book made me want to visit Machu Picchu.

Another place on my wishlist was India, specifically the Taj Mahal and Mahabalipuram, again because of a travelogue I read. I already made it to both locations and many others in India and they didn‘t disappoint.

Several other places made it onto my wishlist because of movies or nature programs on TV or novels, but enough about me: How about you?
