Solo biking in the Loire Valley
I'm going to be in France by myself sometime in June (I'm doing an 8-week tour of Ireland, England, France, and Switzerland.) I'd like to rent a bike to spend several leisurely days in the Loire Valley to see chateaux and other sights. As most other solo travelers, I'm on a budget; not terribly strict or anything, but I need to keep it very reasonable. Has anyone ever done this? Was it expensive? Did you stay in hostels or could you find other reasonable single rooms? I've checked out Détours de Loire and they seem like a great choice, but I've never done anything like this before, and so I don't know the logistics like where to keep my pack while I'm gone, what's the best route to take for four days, are there less expensive places to stay along the way, and do I need maps? Any help is appreciated!
