Philadelphia to San Francisco (and back), in winter
So my husband and I are looking into driving from Philly to San Francisco for the December holidays to see my family, and then back to our house in Philly.
I've been told 5 days is enough time one way to do it without feeling overwhelmed.
Since it will be winter, I am a bit concerned about weather and driving conditions. Folks have told us to avoid the more northerly plains and the Rockies for this reason. However, I understand that the South can actually be worse at snow/ice removal due to not really knowing how to cope with it.
Basically I am seeking input on the fastest (within reason) routes (preferably they'd be different each way).
Thank you for any and all info!
