Lots of Miles/Points but no cash
Hello SoloTravel!
I'd love to do some traveling later this year but money is tight. Fortunately I've been thrifty with earning miles, rewards, points, and airline credit. If anyone has any suggestions, tips, tricks, or advice on how to best spend my points and get a kick ass trip out of it I'd appreciate the help.
Details:
- Miles/Points enough to cover about $400 worth of airfare($100 credit on United and $100 credit on SW which expire in Aug plus points)
- I don't think Hostels are my speed
- Not opposed to camping
- Can probably budget $500ish on top of airfare
- Within the US would be easiest, coming from east coast
- Thinking of traveling in late sept-late october for about a week.
My thought process so far:
- Fly stand-by to try to get absolute max value from the points
- Camping/hiking might be cheaper(might not?)
- National Parks are awesome I like traveling for events like shows, concerts, ball games, meteor showers, experiences, etc.
- I have an emergency fund so im not worried about something catastrophic happening
- haven't talked to r/awardstravel yet, but soon
What else do I need to consider?!
Thanks!
