Is $4500 a reasonable budget for 30 days in Prague, Budapest, and Croatia?
My (21/F) flight is all booked and I will be starting on my first solo experience in less than a month! I have also already booked my first 8 nights, 4 in Prague and 4 in Budapest. So I have 30-8 = 22 days still to budget for lodging. Now that that's out of the way, I wanted to see if you all had any insight on how much I should budget for day-to-day stuff!
I think I am going to book these two accommodations only before I actually fly out, because Prague and Budapest are my absolute first choices and will play the rest by ear, with the Croatian coast and Austria as my tentative plans.
More details for my specific plans below:
Lodging: It's hostels all the way. It seems to me that $25 per night is the average if not on the pricier side for accomodations.
Transport: I will be taking the public train for my large intercity travels, and plan to do FREQUENT day trips via public rail out of the city. This is one concern I have for breaking the budget!
Food: I plan to get hostels that serve breakfast, and eating small-ish lunches. Supermarkets for quick snacks. That said, food is part of the experience of travel and I am willing to pay a little more to get that experience as opposed to eating instant oatmeal all day every day!
Alcohol: I am taying at at least two "party hostels" that cater towards the going out crowd, and plan to go out for drinks at night.
Let me know if you have any input on budgeting as well as what places to wander to after Prague and Budapest.
