India solo travel resources
Hello, I have a question for you guys. My wife is traveling to India for 2 weeks, and I have some questions I was hoping to ask you guys.
Some info regarding the trip: I am not going on the trip for other reasons. She will be solo most of the time, with a few days in the company of friends. She told me she is reserving an apartment via airbnb in Delhi (presumably close to the airport, I forgot the exact address), and will be traveling via uber or the train, uber from the airport and the train for most daily activity transportation.
From what I've read, I have some concerns. I don't want to go into them one by one because there are a few threads on solo woman travel, but I do want to ask a two things:
- How safe are uber/train rides in Delhi? From the cursory amount of research online I did, I have some worries.
- What are things I can do on my end/resources I have that I can prepare for so that I can help if something happens?
What I am worried about is as soon as she leaves the country and is in India, I have zero control of what happens. In addition, I found out recently that our phone service has very poor to no reception in India (Project Fi from google, uses sprint towers), making communication much more difficult. She will have to use wifi during the trip.
I just want her to have a safe trip, but I also don't want to spend that time worrying about her safety.
