Which US city would you choose to live for a month, based on this outline

Ive been travelling the world for the last year, and now I'm in the process of applying to immigrate to the UK to live with my British fiance.  As part of my visa application, I need to send my passport to UK immigration officials, meaning I'm bound to the US until the approval comes in.

Here is what is important to me as a home base, in order of importance:

1) Easily traversed without a car.  Either via good public transport, walkability, or cycling.

2) Great eating and drinking options. I particularly love craft beer breweries, cool cafes, and low brow food like ramen, burgers and pizza, in that order.

3) Not an enormous city.  (Looking at you, New York and Chicago)

4) Not super expensive (and since I'm from Boston, super expensive probably only means San Fransisco, New York and Boston itself)

Based on my own research, I'm eyeing the following:

Portland, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Diego, Charleston, Austin, Minneapolis, Denver, New Orleans.

Any thoughts on any of this is appreciated.  Particularly appreciate if there are any small cities like Asheville NC or Portland, ME I should be considering. Would be happy to answer any questions as well.
