What should we do instead of Columbia River Gorge?
We had planned on spending a full day here, but it seems like the trail we really wanted to do (Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls), will not be open come August...and it seems a lot of the surrounding trails won't be open either. Beacon Rock on the Washington side looks pretty cool, and assuming it's open, Multnomah Falls looks quite beautiful, but outside of that, there is nothing else there that's really grabbing our attention to dedicate an entire day to. We don't plan on spending much if any time in Portland.
We will be coming from the Mt. Rainier area, where we plan to hike Spray Park and perhaps Tolmie Peak after. Beyond these 2 hikes, is there another hike worth dedicating part of a day to (basically to take up part of the day we had planned solely for the gorge).
Mt. Hood National Forest looked like another option as well, since it's close by to the gorge and seems like it has some good hikes (we aren't sure which ones we should focus on though).
Thanks so much!
