Travelling to Central America and South America
Evening all
I plan to travel for a few months and have been considering Central and South America for a long time now.
However, I have a few questions.
1.) Do you need to know Spanish to a certain degree to travel through these countries and get by? I know some basic Spanish and have always been willing to learn but was wondering whether this might hinder me.
2.) How safe could the region be considered? Of course I've seen stories of crime but I'm not going to let that distort my perception of the region. The only concern is that I've never really been outside a western culture.
3.) How is travelling in countries in the region? Is public transportation a good bet to use or would flying around be a better option?
The countries in the region fascinate me and I really enjoy their culture. The countries I think I would love to visit in particular would be Belize, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and onwards to Argentina and Chile if I still have money. I'm open to any suggestions on other countries and places to visit in the region.
Thanks in advance.
