Road trip through the Colorado National Parks next week. Any advice?
Hey there outdoor junkies, next week I’m going to be going on a road trip in Colorado stopping at all four National Parks. I was wondering if anyone had some helpful knowledge I should know beforehand. Here are some details:
•I will be sleeping in the back of my truck, nothing fancy just a camper shell on the back. •I will be spending two days in each location. •My order is Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Black Canyon OTG, and lastly RMNP. •I will be doing the first half solo, the second half I’m picking up a friend in Grand Junction for the remainder of the trip. •I live near Denver so I’m pretty familiar with CO weather, more concerned about safety hazards/things to do within the parks themselves.
Most importantly I still need to find a place to stay overnight near Mesa Verde as all campgrounds within the actual park are closed during winter. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
