Planning a cross country solo road trip in Aug/Sept and need advise.
I am travelling from east coast to west coast across the bottom portion of the US and back again across the top portion of the country. I am planning on taking 3 - 4 weeks to complete and sightsee. I prefer hotels, but am trying to stay as low-cost as possible, so plan on camping some or even just crashing in my vehicle when needed. Any advice is appreciated.
Anyone know of any hotels or even campsites that sell by the week, but allow you to move locations/cities?
What are my cheapest camping options? I know state and national parks can get expensive, even for a night. All I need is a place to pitch a tent for a few hours, fire ring not needed.
Is it legal to sleep in your car at rest stops? If not, do I need to find a WalMart of something along these lines to stop and sleep at?
Any absolute must-stop places I need to put on my itinerary?
Any other cost saving tips for this type of trip?
Much thanks fam!
