Need some help planning my first ever solo trip to Portugal (and possibly Spain?) - 14 days
Leaving from Toronto in the 20th to Lisbon and hoping to be back around May 4th. This is my first trip ever outside of east coast NA. I've read that 4 nights in Lisbon is a good start, and 3 nights in Porto, so I've budgeted my time accordingly.
To preface, my interests include mountains/valleys, architecture, experience new local cuisine, taking in local ambiences (e.g. street markets), and meeting new people/partying. My budget is approximately $2000 CAD.
Here is a quick breakdown of my plan:
April 21 - 24 - 4 days in Lisbon, with a day trip to Sintra on the last day. Possibly want to fit in Lagos and Algarve as well.
April 25 - 27 - 3 days in Porto
April 28 - Day trip to Douro Valley - I'd like to go hiking for a few hours here, but am unable to find much information about how to do so (i.e. getting here from Porto, hiking, and going back/possibly staying nearby overnight for cheap)
From here, I'm kind of stuck on what to do with my remaining 6-7 days. I would love to possibly check out Granada, Ronda, and Seville in Spain but I'm not sure how much time I budget for each, and where I should leave from. If I do happen to fit in a trip to Spain, I'm also wondering if Barcelona/Madrid should replace some of the other cities I've mentioned.
Peneda-GerĂªs National Park also looks like a great alternative/addition to Douro Valley but I'm not sure how long I would need to check this out.
I'm essentially very overwhelmed trying to plan my first trip so some guidance would much appreciated!
