I could use some advice, tips, pointers, suggestions on a potential Latin America trip.
I plan on taking a little break from life, a sabbatical I guess you can call it, sometime in the future (late 2018/early 2019). Am currently working on my Spanish and it's going well so far, I think.
The goal is to spend a little bit of time in a few different cities so that I don't feel like I'm rushing through tirelessly from place to place.
Here is my proposed itinerary, the days I plan on staying are just rough estimates:
Havana (4 days)
Bogota (5 days)
Cartagena (4 days)
Medellin (6 days)
Lima (6 days)
La Paz (6 days)
Santiago (6 days)
Buenos Aires (14 days)
Sao Paolo (5 days)
Rio De Janeiro (5 days)
Santa Cruz, Bolivia (5 days)
I would be flying for almost all of these from one destination to the next one on the list except for SAO to RIO, as I've heard the buses are quite next between both cities.
Do you think I'm staying too long or too short at any of the cities? As you can see, I'm really trying to get to know Buenos Aires for no reason other than I heard I might really like it there.
To give you an idea of what I like: I've been to Medellin before for only 3 days and thought it was too short. I don't do outdoorsy stuff often (hiking, beach, etc) but I am willing to explore this more during my time in SA. I like cosmopolitan vibes but would also like to try my hand at horse riding, motorcycling, and other things that don't entail hanging out at a cafe/bar (which is what I normally do). I also love to party, but I don't think I'll be doing that every damn day during my entire trip, hahah. I prefer entire-place-to-myself airbnbs (or private room if I feel like saving money) to hostels and hotels, but I can be convinced to stay at a hostel if you think it's crucial to a particular city's experience.
Beyond that question, if you have any suggestions, let me know!
