Has anyone done workaway long term? What was your experience, how did you afford it, etc?
In short, I'm considering saving up over the spring/summer and then doing various workaways for 6 months+.
Not going to lie, my main reasons for doing this is 1.) I want to travel again and 2.) I feel completely lost in life.
I graduated university almost two years ago and have been able to get nothing but the same jobs I worked in highschool. I live with my parents and I'm just overall sick of being depressed and hating my life. I can't go another year like this.
I was happiest when I was traveling (like everyone else right?) but am also hoping to learn some practical skills that may help me find direction in the future (agriculture, hospitality, working with children, etc).
Am I doing it for the wrong reasons? Will it actually hurt me in the future (ie gap in employment, but I mean it is volunteering, so ??? I don't know ??)? At this point my gap of "professional" employment is already pretty big so I kind of just want to say fuck it.
Also, clearly food and boarding is mostly covered, but did you use any other ways to earn some money while traveling?
I would really love to hear about others experiences. I don't know anyone personally who has done this, so it would help me out a lot.
