Going somewhere you've already been vs somewhere new
I deal with anxiety issues so any type of travel ends up being pretty stressful for me, especially solo. I know the whole conquer your fears and all, plus this won't be my first solo trip or anything, but I still am looking for some opinions. I'm trying to plan my next trip and I'm not sure if I should go to one of my favorite places or if I should go somewhere I haven't been before. I've narrowed down the new locations to China or Italy (very different I know haha). I've been to Beijing but I would really like to go to Shanghai, Chongqing, Guilin, and maybe Kunming. I've been to Rome and Venice but I'd like to go to Naples, Cinque Terre, and maybe some towns in that area. When I went to both China and Italy, besides one 24hr layover, I was with someone else. I'm looking for opinions on which itinerary would be easier for an anxious solo traveler. I know for sure I want to do both eventually but perhaps I could one day find a travel partner if either would be more enjoyable with someone else. Money is a slight concern as I do stress out over costs although I don't spend much besides for transportation and lodging. I'm assuming China would be cheaper. Would that still be true if I fly between cities instead of bus/train? On the other hand, I have some friends and things going on in Korea (plus money left there in a bank account) and I'm really missing it. It would especially be nice to be there again for cherry blossom season. Should I stick with my favorite country or should I try new cities in countries I also enjoy? (Keeping in mind even going to the familiar place will still make me stressed).
