Downsides of solo travel with a hard shell carry-on?
I'm just getting into solo-traveling and after multiple international trips with 1 person to large groups of people I'm finally going on my own trip later this year. The mistake I made on my last trip was using a bag that was fine as a carry-on for some airlines, but not others. So I got to looking and found the Away carry-on bag in the original size. I know some people love or hate the bag, for me I think the size is great and I really like the compression feature with the included bags, and of course the removable battery and lock are good too as well as the 360 wheels and the weight. So I'm not looking to compare hard-shells here. I've seen that the majority of people prefer to use a backpack and I understand the appeal in that it's easier to get around but I guess I'm just wondering what are the downsides of using a hard-shell suitcase and bringing a day-pack backpack? Like not just why is a backpack better but why is a suitcase bad? I recently picked up a waterproof backpack that folds down to about the size of an envelope because it was on sale and I think it's just good to have for day to day and to bring on trips like this. Given that I haven't done a ton of budget traveling until recently I do understand that others just purely have more knowledge than me on the subject, and maybe I'm a little naive in thinking it wouldn't be that big of a hassle? But that's why I'm reaching out, so any opinions would be helpful!
