Criticise my Vietnam Itinerary
Hi r/solotravel ! You all have been so useful I thought I’d return for your wise advise. I land in Hanoi tomorrow morning for two weeks and seek your opinions on my plans and whether I’m trying to cram in too much. I’m also not very clued up about transport so if you have any advise please let me know!
Day 1 - Arrive Hanoi around 10am. Chill and explore the city, spend night near Old Quarter
Day 2 - Take a morning express bus to Sapa. Find somebody offering homestay and trekking when I get off the bus and spend the night there (is this possible / easy?)
Day 3 - Trekking and homestay around Sapa
Day 4 - Return to Hanoi. It seems there is an early afternoon bus? Sleep in Hanoi (is there an evening or overnight way to Cat Ba or is that fitting in too much?)
Day 5 - Travel to Cat Ba as early as possible if not done the night before. Find a cheap but good two day/one night tour to begin tomorrow hopefully. Spend night on island.
Day 6 - Start tour or hire a kayak for the day if the tour doesn’t work out. Sleep with tour or on island again.
Day 7 - More kayaking or maybe explore island in the morning, or finish the tour if on one. Take the 14:40 bus from Cat Ba to Ninh Bihn. Sleep in Tam Coc.
Day 8 - Cycle around the countryside of Tam Coc.
Day 9 - Some more time chilling in Tam Coc. Night bus to Phong Nha.
Day 10 - Chill and explore Phong Nha. Sleep in hostel.
Day 11 - Cave tour. Sleep in hostel in Phong Nha.
Day 12 - Explore the national park, maybe on a bike. Night bus to Hoi An.
Day 13 - Relax in Hoi An, maybe a cooking class. Sleep in hostel in Hoi An.
Day 14 - Motorbike tour to Hue before catching an evening flight from Hue to Hanoi. Sleep in Hanoi.
Day 15 - Fly at 10:00 to Singapore
Any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated! My aim is to see the best of nature and the countryside while keeping to a very tight budget.
