Car rental as a young european, a few questions
Hello!
So I'll just get right to it, sorry in advance for errors, english isn't my first language:
My father and I are planning a trip to the US this september and we're expecting it to take 3-4 weeks. The plan is to go from NYC to Washington DC, drive up over the border to Canada, if possible, for a few days, nip down to Boston, drive back to NYC and fly home. I'll be 20 by the time, and he'll be 64. We want to share the load with driving, as he doesn't want to be the only one behind the wheel all the time. I've been trying to figure out the rules for car rentals, but I haven't made much progress. So, with that out of the way, my questions are:
-
As far as I understand, the minimum age to be signed on as a co-driver in New York, varies a lot from company to company, and I can't for the life of me figure the system out. Do you guys have any insight and maybe recommendations for a company?
-
If we say, rent a car in New York and I'm allowed to drive there, will it be the same if we go to another state where the rules are different?
-
We're planning on making stops between the cities of course, are there any must see places you guys can recommend?
We're danish by the way, in case that has any effect.
I'm sorry if any of these questions seem stupid or lazy, but we really haven't been able to figure these things out on our own. Thanks in advance for any help!
