Advice plea for trip around US West!
Hello Reddit. First time as OP here so please play gently.
My partner and I (two Brits) are planning a 23 day trip around The West of the US. The trip will be in August and will start and finish in San Fran. We're thinking car and motels/hostels rather than RV but haven’t booked a vehicle yet. We're happy to camp from time to time (e.g. around the parks).
We've wanted to do this for ages so we're very excited. We've put together a rough itinerary, mostly based on itineraries from US tour companies with Zion snuck in. We still have a lot of specifics to decide. As it's our first time in the US we'd be really grateful for any comments, especially re: the following:
- Are we trying to pack too much in? Some of those national parks you guys and gals have over there seem to be rather large and may take several days to do justice.
- Is there anything obvious we have missed?
- Is there anything we could/should skip? (some other posts have suggested places like Joshua Tree are going to be dry as all hell in August but not sure we have much option other than to carry on).
- Anything to note about the route e.g. landmarks to swing by on the way to places?
Thanks for listening!
