Hi guys! I'm a 22 year old Aussie who's started planning a trip in India for November-December. I've done a lot of reading on the scams, travel methods and general places. I'm a big girl, so far I have handled myself travelling in Japan, China, Ireland and Amsterdam. I'll be eating mostly vegetarian to avoid risking sickness. Packing light but long covering clothes.

Any tips, tricks or advice for India? (Also niche scams, dunno if there's any central to the areas I visit)

Also some questions I have: My flight into Dehli arrives about midnight... not ideal. Definitely won't be taking the train. I read about the Govt. Taxi service you can arrange? Any other suggestions? I'll be staying at a decent hotel the first night or until I get over the culture shock, then switching to reputable hostels where I can meet some people.

Diwali is on during my stay initially, any recommendations?

I'll be taking a sleeper bus to Dharamshala from Dehli, what are sleeper buses like? What is the best way to make sure I get bus tickets and get on the bus safely?

Any tips on buying a sari? I want to find a pricey one for the wedding 😊

What's the safest bag to carry in india? I'm struggling to find something secure/without 20 pockets for potential hands to reach into if in a crowd.
