(20M) First solo trip! Ireland and UK for two weeks, suggestions?
Hello All!
I've been lurking and reading the sub for awhile now. It has motivated me to study abroad next year and go out to travel/learn to travel this summer.
I am planning to go to Ireland and the UK for two weeks in August. I picked them because it's less of a culture shock and everyone speaks English which I think would be good to learn how to travel for the first time. My very early plan is this.
-
Fly to Limerick to explore the city and the Cliffs of Moher (2-3 days)
-
Train to dublin and explore the area (2 days)
-
Fly from Dublin to London and explore London area (2-3 days)
-
Train to Manchester or Liverpool and explore both cities (2 days)
-
Cap off the trip by going to Creamfields for two days before flying back home. (I am into festivals so I thought why not check one out in a different country while I'm there!)
Are there any viable places to see and go to near the area of the cities I would be going to? As you can see, the Cliffs of Moher are really the only thing to see that is for sure on my plan.
Would skipping Dublin to see more of southern Ireland be a better idea?
The cost is higher than I had expected. I'm budgeting around 1500-1750, is this too much?
I am planning to stay in Airbnb's, hostels, and maybe the couchsurf website.
Any suggestions, pointers, or help is appreciated!
