Planning on going to SEA in April, advice appreciated

So I've been working in Australia for some time now, and I recently decided on going to SEA. My rough plan is to fly mid April to Singapore, travel to South Thailand, pass trough Cambodia and travel from South to North in Vietnam. After that I might come back trough Laos and go to North Thailand. I'm intending on staying for +-3 months, money is no issue.

So I have a few questions and I would appreciate some advice:

I read that it's not the best time of the year to go, with the hot weather and the rain. How disrupting is the rain for travelling, does it rain very often? I would love to travel a bit by motorbike, but I don't have a license. Is this a huge problem? Is it easy to take a bike over the border? Also again is it viable to travel by bike in the rain season?

I would love to hear personal experiences as well. Thanks in advance!
