Imagining a trip that begins in NY, heads to the Midwest and down southeast towards Florida
Beginning in mid-June, I want to begin a month-long journey beginning in upstate NY and ending in Florida to explore potential cities to move to. I've recently graduated university and have a few months' worth of money to travel and figure out what I want to do and where I want to be doing it.
I want to explore a lot of the midwest. Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis are some cities I want to check out. After these, I want to start making my way south towards Florida. The reasoning for this is because in mid-late July, I'll be meeting with a friend in FL to begin the second phase of this adventure. That'll be the journey west, which'll go something like FL--Nola--TX--NM--AZ--CA--maybe UT/CO.
Anyway, as a mid-twenties writer/musician, I'm hoping to get suggestions on cities I could explore during the first phase of this trip, where I'll be driving alone throughout the eastern portion of the country. Ideally, this part of the trip will stick to cities rather than spending time in national/state parks. That'll come during the second phase when I'm with my friend. I'm looking for cities with a lot to offer to young people who value art, culture, & creativity.
The route I'm imaging will be a horse-shoe: from NY to Minneapolis, then heading south through Iowa to Kansas City, then east towards Cincinatti, south to Nashville. From there, Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, and Savannah before ending in Florida. Any suggestions or recommendations?
