How to Spot Freeloaders?
Several months ago I hosted someone on Couchsurfing. With with me for a week. Didn't bring a gift. Took multiple showers per day and used my washer/dryer several times. Never once offered to cook or clean. Never once hung out outside of the home as she had friends in the city and spent time with them. I wanted to kick her out after a couple days but had already committed to hosting for over a week.
In hindsight there were some "warning signs". From her profile, she seemed like a "professional Couchsurfer". She'd been Couchsurfing for several years, staying with over two dozen hosts across the world but never hosting. She seemed like someone who knew how to "work the system" to travel for free without giving back.
I want to avoid this situation again. For those who host actively, how do you get better at weeding out freeloaders?
