First time solo traveler planning to visit Kentucky (from Europe - Italy), need help figuring out mobility in the USA.
Hello everyone, this is my first time actually posting on reddit whatsoever in a way, and I thought this subreddit could help me out.
I am planning a trip to Kentucky in late April (staying for 2-4 weeks max, ideally from April 21st), planning to visit its national parks and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. I am also planning to pass at least one week in Hazard.
I work as a freelance translator, so the language is definitely not an issue. Papers are being prepped to travel abroad, and the USA do not appear to have any issues with tourists from Italy.
I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to move in Kentucky, and how to reach Hazard (and the national parks) from Lexington (close to 120 miles): apparently there isn't any kind of public infrastructure (trains, buses, taxis) that goes beyond what's provided in the bigger cities, and as I don't have a driving license for cars (only for motorcycles), car rental is not feasible. I have stumbled upon Lyft, and it seems proper, although I don't know anything about it. What would be the best way to move around?
Plane tickets, hotels and the tours have been easy to find and plan, but again, mobility is being a great problem.
Other than that, this would be my first direct contact with the USA, and any kind of general insight when visiting would be great!
