Driving from SF to Big Sur - Suggestions needed!
Hi r/roadtrip . Planning a trip to drive the coast starting around SF to Big Sur for 6 days and was hoping to get some suggestions from others who have driven it. Ideally I’d like to base the trip around scenery/photography, food, short hikes, culture and beaches. I don't have to worry too much about budget so anything is on the table. I’ll be taking my mother for her birthday for what will be her first time ever to Northern California so I’d love some help planning to make it special! She's a little older so she can't do any long/strenuous hikes unfortunately. Below is an extremely tentative itinerary of the main sights I thought might be interesting.
- Day 1: Point Reyes National Seashore - stay at The Lodge
- Cypress Tree Tunnel, Elk Preserve, beaches, ship wrecks (Arriving around 11am, is there enough time)
- Day 2: San Fransisco - Stay is TBD
- Nob Hill, Lombard St, Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Bridge

- Day 3: Drive to Monterey - Stay is TBD
- Half Moon Bay, a stop in Big Basin for a quick peek of the park, Santa Cruz, Monterey Aquarium

Day 4: Carmel - Stay at Bernardus Inn
- 17-Mile Drive, Point Lobos, hang out in town

Day 5: Big Sur -Most likely stay at Ventana Inn
- Bixby Bridge, McWay Falls, Pfeiffer Beach - Key Hole Rock, Deetjans Inn
-
Day 6: Head Back to LA (we've already been to Santa Barbara so we're skipping it)
- Madonna Inn, Jockos Steak House, San Simeon Seal Rookery
Recommendations, great spots or different ideas all together are greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much for your time!
