Checking into a hotel "underage" but solo?
Hi all!
I'm a college student traveling to SoCal this weekend and booked a hotel room, BUT as I was sifting through requirements, I saw that you have to be a minimum of 19/21 to check into the hotel that I'd booked at. However, I'm traveling alone (as a legal adult, so 18), and don't know what to do - it's a bit late to find other accommodations for a comparable price/quality (I've checked Airbnb, was the first place I'd looked & I would prefer not to stay in a motel) and I know for a fact no one can accompany me on the trip. Though I'm not 19, I was able to reserve the room through the website of the hotel itself.
If anyone has advice, I'd greatly appreciate it - thanks & happy travels :) I plan to call the hotel tomorrow & explain my situation; the room is reserved for only one night, as I'm going to a hackathon and wanted somewhere to stay/comfortably explore the town prior to it, so I'm hoping that'll grant me a little more leeway.
