I plan to visit Japan for the third time this March/April for the sakura blossoms. So far I have been to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagano (for snowboarding), Fukuoka, Beppu, Yokohama, and Matsumoto.

I have on a short list Hokkaido, Okinawa, and Hiroshima as alternative options other than Tokyo for now. I have only visited Japan in the winter so looking forward to seeing what Spring looks like. Out of all the areas, I enjoyed Kyoto and Tokyo the most. Kyoto for it's traditional temples and traditional way of life. Tokyo - well, it speaks for itself. I'm looking to see if anyone else has alternative recommendations for Japan's sights.

I appreciate onsens, food, physical activities (hiking, snowboarding, etc) when in Japan. I do not speak any Japanese so remote areas might need some convincing for me (Nagano was very difficult to get by but I made it work).
